Arthur Millsaps

          Arthur Millsaps, 94, of Robbinsville, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, March 10, 2018 at Charles George VA Medical Center in Asheville, NC.

          A native of Graham County, he was the son of the late Jeff and Ida Shope Millsaps.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Turbeville Millsaps, and his son, William “Bill” Millsaps.

          Arthur was a US army Veteran, having served his country proudly during WWII.  During his enlistment he attained the rank of 1st Sergeant and he spent time in Korea, The Philippines, and Japan.  After his military service he opened and operated a country store on Gladdens Creek.  In 1950 he became an agent for Nationwide Insurance, where he worked until his retirement in 1987.

          He accepted Christ as his savior as a young man at Lone Oak Baptist Church.  He later joined Hosanna Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon.  In their later years, he and Jean attended Grace Tabernacle Baptist Church, where their son, Jimmy, is pastor, until their health began to fail.

          Arthur is survived by his daughter in law, Wilma Wakefield Millsaps, his sons and daughters in law, John and Lisa Millsaps, and Jimmy and Angie Millsaps, all of Robbinsville, NC.  He has 7 grandchildren, 11 great grandchildren, and 4 great great grandchildren.

          The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 pm Tuesday, March 13, 2018 at Grace Tabernacle Baptist Church.  Funeral services will follow at the Church at 7:00 pm.  His son, Reverend Jimmy Millsaps and Reverend Dana Dockery will officiate.  Committal services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, March 14, 2018 at the Old Mother Cemetery where Military Rites will be conducted by the NC National Guard Honor Guard and Eller Rogers American Legion Post 192 and Carringer Webster VFW Post 8635.
