Bernadine Agnes Shiplet, age 95 of Robbinsville, NC passed away, Thursday, March 14, 2019 at Murphy Medical Center in Murphy, NC.
She was a native of Michigan but has resided in Robbinsville for several years. She was the daughter of the late Roy Ray Loper and Cordelia Meldrum Loper. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband and father of her children, Floyd Melvin Fields in May of 1989 and her husband, Alfred Shiplet in August of 2016.
Bernadine was one of the few remaining original “Rosie the Riveter’s” from the World War II era. She was also an avid painter; she gave numerous “Chalk Talk” presentations and taught art classes in her community.
She is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Valerie Fields of Bradenton, FL, Terry G. Elmore (Jim) of Inverness, FL, Shelley Jean Sachs (Gary) of Altenburg, MO; her step children and their spouses, Matt Shiplet (Michelle) of Robbinsville, NC, Debra Milburn (Jeff) of College Station, TX; and her sisters, Minnie Baughman, and Betty Crouch. She has 9 grandchildren, and 10 great grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, June 23, 2019 at Liberty Missionary Baptist Church.
