Bill Garland, 83, of Robbinsville, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on April 30, 2018.
A native of Graham County, and an honored Military Veteran, Bill spent his life here in Robbinsville doing what he loved best – helping others in his community, working on vehicles, and building anything his vivid imagination could think of. He loved all of God’s creatures and spent many a day caring for his beloved animal companions. His first love was automobiles and he could tell you anything you needed to know about any make or model of car; his skills as a mechanic were truly unmatched. Telling jokes was his specialty; his joyful presence could brighten even the darkest of rooms.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Verna Barker Garland; his daughter, Tricia Carver; his three grandchildren, Hallee Carver and Henry Cable, both of Robbinsville, and Hannah Carver of Greenville; and his two sisters, Shirley Garland of Robbinsville, and Esta Laney of Bryson City. He is also survived by numerous and beloved nieces and nephews.
At Bill’s request, no services are planned.
