Donald L. Moody

Donald L. Moody, 93, of the Snowbird Community in Robbinsville, NC, passed away Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at his residence.

          A native of Graham County, he was the son of the late Wiley G. and Lola Cook Moody.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sisters, Ruth Colvard, Ola Wilkey, Mae Wilkey, and Azalee Moody, and his brothers, Ted Moody, Austin Moody, Garrett Moody, Justin Moody and Eston Moody.

          Don was a Veteran of the US Army having served his country proudly during WWII.

          He is survived by his loving wife, Mavis Overstreet Moody; his son and daughter in law, Todd and Shanda Dooley of Robbinsville, NC, and his daughter and son in law, Donna and Dudley Orr of Knoxville, TN.  He has six grandchildren, Kolbe Dooley, Skylar Orr, Karcee Dooley, Rylee Orr, Koleson Dooley, and Jackson Orr.  He has one great grandson, Kade Dooley.  Don also has several nieces and nephews.

          The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 pm Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the Townson-Smith Chapel.  Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm at the Chapel.  The Reverend Kevin Brooks will officiate.  Burial will follow at Carver Cemetery where there will be a Flag Presentation by the NC National Guard Honor Guard.

          In lieu of flowers, donations are requested to be made in Don’s memory to The Church Mouse Ministries in Robbinsville, NC.
