Doyle Lester Stratton

Doyle Lester Stratton, age 72, died unexpectedly Monday, February 4, 2019 at his home in New Florence, MO.

He was born March 23rd, 1946 in Hayesville, NC to Farley “Satch” Stratton and Lowanna “Tommy” Eller Stratton. He moved to New Florence in 1986 after meeting his wife Sandy.

Doyle spent many years as an owner/operator of his own trucking company. Since his retirement he has spent his time as a bartender at his family bar and grill in New Florence. There he became a friend of everyone who entered and was known for his big smile, counseling sessions, quick wit, tall tales and weekend taxi services.

Doyle was a very loving husband, father and Papaw. He was a dedicated family man and loved spending time with each of his grandbabies. As a grandfather he was kind, patient, entertaining, reliable, always willing to play dolls and available to help at a moments notice.

When Doyle wasn’t bartending or babysitting he enjoyed reading western novels, watching murder mystery television, tinkering in his garage and drinking Pepsi. He truly had a kind and compassionate spirit and a heart of gold. Everyone he met was a friend. His infectious smile and southern drawl will forever be missed by all that love him.

Doyle is survived by his wife, Sandra McCraw Stratton; three daughters, Natasha Buchanan and husband Michael, Dana Williams and Jessie Stratton and husband Seth; three sons, Jeremiah Stratton, Glen Williams and wife Cassandra and Gale Williams; grandchildren, Dakota and Sheena, Coy and Lance, Dakota, Mallory and Kendall, Zoey, Charlotte and Greylen and Jacob and Andrew; sister, Annette Edwards and husband, Tumpy; brother, Dickie Stratton; nephews, Maurice and Ken and Rick; nieces, Melinda Bailey and husband Bill, Sheila, Debra and Beverly; cousin, Bobby Dance; and many more cousins, nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his son, Douglas Stratton, his daughter, Lynnette Stratton, his parents, Farley and Lowanna Stratton, and his aunt, Kathryn Dance.

A Celebration of Doyle’s Life will be held at the New Florence Community Building on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at 12:00 p.m. A service of the SCHRADER Funeral Home & Crematory.

Graveside services will be held at 11:00 am, Saturday, August 31, 2019 at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery.  Reverend Michael Rattler will officiate.
