Emma Jean James Stewart, 76, of the West Buffalo Community in Robbinsville, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 25, 2017 at her residence.
A native of Graham County, she was the daughter of the late Rev. Frank James, Sr. and Hollis Elizabeth Dockery James. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Mitch Colvard and Mike Colvard; her grandson, Bart Crisp; and her sister, Christine Gregory.
Emma Jean was an avid piano player when she was younger and she loved growing flowers. She was a longtime member of the Robbinsville Order of the Eastern Star.
She is survived by her husband of 33 years, Dave Stewart; her step daughters and son in law, Teresa and Larry Crisp of Robbinsville, NC, and Connie Daley of Grants Pass, OR; her niece, Denise Ensor of Maryville, TN; her brother, Frank James, Jr., of Robbinsville, NC; and her sister, Maxine Millsaps of Robbinsville, NC. She has two granddaughters, Tosha Colvard of Sylva, NC, and Michelle Holden of Savannah, GA; and one great grandchild, Rylee Farmer.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at Cedar Cliff Baptist Church. The Reverends Daniel Stewart and Brian Stevens will officiate. Burial will follow at Carver Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 pm Wednesday at the Church, prior to the service.
