Gene Cable

Eugene Cable, 87, of the West Buffalo Community in Robbinsville, NC, went home to be with the Lord on June 5, 2019 at his residence.      

He was the son of the late Joe and Dorothy Daniels Cable.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife of 53 years, Nellie Jo Long Cable. 

A Veteran of the US Army, he served his country proudly at the end of the Korean War.  Gene was also a member of Cedar Cliff Baptist Church where he has served as a Deacon for 30 years.  He also enjoyed time working and serving his community as a member of the Graham County Rescue Squad and Snowbird Volunteer Fire Department.

Gene is survived by his daughters and sons in law, Tammy and Peter Allen of Grants Pass, OR, and Rhonda and Robert Cape of Robbinsville, NC; his grandchildren, Cameron Allen, Katie Allen, and Clancy Allen, all of Grants Pass, OR; his sisters, Roma Nell Cable of Lenoir, NC, and Sharon Edwards of Robbinsville, NC; and his brothers, Ted Cable and Larry Cable, both of Lenoir, NC, and Blake Cable and Lonnie Cable, both of Robbinsville, NC.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm Thursday, June 13, 2019 at Cedar Cliff Baptist Church. Reverends Mickey Stewart, Daniel Stewart, and Mike Edwards will officiate.  Burial will follow at Carver Cemetery where Military Rites will be conducted by the NC National Guard Honor Guard.  The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 pm Thursday at the church prior to the service.
