Janie Ellen Garner Williams, 79, of Robbinsville, NC, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, December 21, 2018, surrounded by her family at Murphy Medical Center after a long bout with an extended illness.
Janie was born on July 7, 1939 in Rogersville, Alabama. She was a long-time resident of Robbinsville, a devoted, loving mother and grandmother, and a successful business woman. She was a faithful, long-time Member of Mountain Creek Baptist Church, where she taught youth Sunday school class and sang in the church choir for many years. Janie devoted her life to her Lord Jesus Christ and loved her Mountain Creek Church family. She was referred to as Granny by her grandchildren who she loved spending time with, and respected and loved by her family for her unconditional love.
Janie was the daughter of the late Chislom and Susie Garner. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Donald Williams and her granddaughter Elizabeth Millsaps.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law Ronnie and Mona Williams, her daughter and son-in-law Renese and Seth Millsaps, as well as grandchildren Tara Williams Rogers and Kaleb Williams, and Braden Millsaps and CJ Millsaps. She is also survived by great-grandchildren Kate Rogers and Will Rogers, and Asher Foster.
Janie was one of eleven siblings, and is survived by siblings Willa Mae, Joe Mack, Persuial Dale and Barbara, and preceded in death by siblings Lucille, Reeder, Elizabeth Ann, Jimmie Lou, Troy and Paul.
Funeral Services will be held at 3:00 pm Sunday, December 23, 2018 at Mountain Creek Baptist Church. The Reverend Tom Buchanan will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Mountain Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:00 till 3:00 pm Sunday at the Church prior to the services.
