John Victor Siler

John Victor Siler, age 95 of the Mill Creek Circle Community of Robbinsville, NC went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 11, 2019 at Graham Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.

          He was a native of Graham County and the son of the late Will and Rose Phillips Siler.  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his wife, Lavonne Brooks Siler; son, Danny Siler; grandson, Scott Stone; brother, Robert Siler; and sisters, Polly Siler and Helen Husky.

          John was a Veteran of WWII serving his County in the United Sates Navy.  After his service he became employed with ALCOA (Aluminum Co. of America) until his retirement.

          He is survived by his daughter, Nancy Orr of Robbinsville, NC; 2 special friends he thought of as daughters, Sharon “Pete” Underwood, and Tammy Jenkins; his grandchildren, Kelly Orr, Donnie Orr, Pam Scroggs, Dickey Stone, Jessica Siler, Greg Siler; several great grandchildren; and Tyler and Haley Carpenter, whom he thought of as his grandchildren.

          Funeral Services will be held at 7:00 pm Tuesday, May 14, 2019 at Sweetgum Baptist Church.  The Reverends Patrick Odell, Kenny Ball and Harold Beasley will officiate.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 till 7:00 pm Tuesday at the Church prior to the service.

          Committal Services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, May 15, 2019 at the Old Mother Cemetery where Military Rites and Flag Presentation will be conducted by the US Naval Honor Guard.
