Lorraine (Roach) York

She was born Mildred Lorraine Roach to Jess and Jessie Roach in Indiana on June 8, 1931. She passed away on October 17, 2018 at Mountain View Manor in Bryson City, NC.

She and her sister grew up in Indiana and Ohio.  In 1950 she met and married Edwin Gardie Cherrington while they were both attending Bible College.  They had four children.  As a military family, they lived in several states, finally settling in Oceanside, CA.

In the 1970’s she and her youngest son John moved to Venice, FL to be near her parents.  It was there she met and married Ronald F. York and became step mother to his two children.

 She always enjoyed music, singing with her children and playing the piano for church.

Following a serious accident, she moved to Robbinsville, NC with John and his wife Cathy so they could see that she got the care she needed.

She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, and one son, Isaac Cherrington of Oceanside, CA.

She is survived by her sister and spouse, Ernestine and William Baker of Brazil, Indiana;  three children and their spouses:  Eugene and Joan Cherrington of Vancouver, WA; Bonnie Butterworth of Oceanside, CA; John and Cathy Cherrington of Robbinsville, NC; two step-children:  Becky and Mike Sikorski of Port Charlotte, FL and Keith York of Robbinsville, NC.  She leaves nine grandchildren, fifteen great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren, with one more due very soon.

She will live on in our hearts.
