Marie (Carpenter) Williams

Marie Carpenter Williams, 89, of the Meadow Branch Community near Robbinsville, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, July 13, 2108 at her residence.

A native of Graham County, she was the daughter of the late Henry and Rilla Orr Carpenter.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Dillard Williams, her sisters, Ruby Green, Jonnie Ruth Carpenter, and Charlotte Carpenter, and her brothers, Leonard Carpenter, Ralph Carpenter, Tony Carpenter, and Ray Carpenter.

Marie lived a life of love and kindness.  She was a fixture at Tapoco Lodge from her teenage years.  After retirement, she could be found outside in her flowers and garden or on the front porch most of the time.  What pleased her most was sharing so visitors always left with something, even if it was just a warm smile.  She will be missed.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Williams of Sherrills Ford, NC; her brother, Roger Carpenter of Robbinsville, NC; and her sisters, Kaye Kuhn of Robbinsville, NC, Gayle Will of Maryville, TN, and Shirley Milliman of Andrews, NC.  She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, many friends and extended family.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, July 16, 2018 at the Townson-Smith Chapel.  The Reverends Noah Williams and Burlin Aldridge will officiate.  Burial will follow at Santeetlah Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:00pm until 2:00 pm Monday at the Chapel, prior to the service.
