Oneal Grant Orr, 73, passed away December 2, 2018, after her brave battle with pancreatic cancer. She is the daughter of the late Arthur Grant and Myrtle Stewart Grant of Tapoco, NC. She was also preceded in death by her sisters Edith Cook and Iva Sizemore. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Lowell Jay Orr and her three children and their families: Lance Orr (wife Cheryl, children Evan and Clayton) of South Lake Tahoe, CA, Meredith Bruce (husband Beau, children Isabella and Lillian) of Decatur, GA, and Grant Orr of Mableton, GA. Also surviving are her sisters Gladys Meek of Charlotte, NC, Nettie Calfee of Southern Pines, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews.
Oneal was a native of Graham County, NC but moved to the Atlanta area in 1967. She was devoted to her family. She loved to cook, to bake, and to garden. She loved her church, Mt. Harmony Baptist, where she taught two-year-old Sunday school for 43 years and sang in the choir for over 20 years. She will leave behind a legacy with her children and the lives she touched.
Services will be at White Columns Funeral Home in Mableton, GA with Pastor Randal Whitten officiating. Visitation will occur on Tuesday December 4th from 11AM-1PM at White Columns’ chapel before the funeral service at 1PM. Further visitation will occur on Wednesday December 5th from 11AM-1PM at Townson-Smith Funeral Home in Robbinsville, NC followed by burial at Lower Yellow Creek Cemetery.
