Roy M. Waldroup

Roy Mack Waldroup, 90, of the East Buffalo Community in Robbinsville, NC, went home to be with the Lord on Friday, December 28, 2018 at his son’s home in St. Augustine, FL.

A native of Graham County, he was the son of the late Rufus Varnell and Caroline Queen Waldroup.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Gary M. Waldroup.

Roy worked in the construction industry for almost 60 years and worked from North Carolina to California.  After he retired, he took great pleasure in spending time at home with Willa Mae, his children and grandchildren, and gardening.  He was an active member of Lone Oak Baptist Church where he has served as a Deacon for 35 years.

He is survived by his loving wife of 69 years, Willa Mae Orr Waldroup, children and their spouses, Ricky and Nancy Waldroup of Robbinsville, NC, Mitch and Melinda Waldroup of Andrews, NC, and Rocky and Crystal Waldroup of St. Augustine, FL, and Kim and David Matheson of Robbinsville, NC, and his former daughter in law, Diane Rogers Parker of Georgia.  He has 8 grandchildren, Shawn Colvard, Eric Waldroup, Trevor Waldroup, Nicole Gibson, Zack Waldroup, Skyler Matheson, Karlyn Matheson, and Abby Waldroup.  His 9 great grandchildren are Kanan Waldroup, Caroline Colvard, Kelsey Waldroup, Cade Colvard, Konner Waldroup, Addie Waldroup, Lily Gibson, Jackson Waldroup, and Lincoln Gibson.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm Friday, January 4, 2019 at Lone Oak Baptist Church.  Reverends Mickey Stewart, Scott Roper and Lance Burke will officiate.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 until 2:00 pm at the Church, prior to the service.  Burial will follow at Lone Oak Baptist Church Cemetery.
