Aaron Burke, 61 of the Old Tallulah Community of Robbinsville, passed away, Monday, November 27, 2023, at his residence.
He was a native of Graham County and the son of Doris Matheson Burke and the late Philip Lamar Burke. In addition to his father, he was also preceded in death by his cousin Randall Matheson.
Aaron was a 1981 Graduate of Robbinsville High School and was one of Robbinsville Black Knights biggest fans. Aaron could be seen at every ball game cheering for the Black Knights and giving support to the kids and coaches on and off the field until his declining health. You could call Aaron a sports fanatic, and he also loved the UT Vols, Green Bay Packers, and the Atlanta Braves. Aaron had a wealth of knowledge when it came to sports statistics, and his memory of statistics for football and baseball was unparalleled.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his sister and brother-in-law, Phyllis and Chris West of Robbinsville, NC, best friend, Mike Carton, and his faithful companion, Dolly Dog. He is also survived by his uncle and aunt, Vernon and Maudie Sue Burke of Robbinsville, NC, special cousins, Grant Burke and family, Wallace Matheson, Lowell Matheson, Wanda Burns, and Ira “Butch” Rogers; Special friends, Johnny Ray McClincy, Kenny Postell, John Postell, Marilyn Ruth, Crystal and Terry Rattler, Julie Postell, Huel Postell, Vance Jordan, Amy Collins, Rachael Phillips, Billy and Sue Clark, Susan Stewart, and Dawn and Rick.
Memorial Services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, December 16, 2023, at the Townson-Smith Chapel. The Reverends David Anderson and David Matheson will officiate. The family will receive friends from 1:00 till 2:00 pm Saturday at the Chapel prior to the service.
