Betty (Sawyer) Damelio

Betty Sawyer Damelio, 80 of Robbinsville, NC passed away, Sunday, May 2, 2021 at Hayesville House Memory Care and Assisted Living in Hayesville, NC.

          She was the daughter of the late Coil Sawyer and Mary Turpin Sawyer Crisp.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Albert M. Damelio Jr., daughters, Karen Hunter, and Michelle Damelio; sisters, Irene Eller, Nina Caron, Edith Minyard, Ila Jean Barfield; brothers, Coil Sawyer Jr., and George Sawyer.

          She is survived by her daughter Cathy Cherrington of Robbinsville, NC; sons, Mike Damelio of Venice, FL and Steve Damelio of Cody, WY.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Mickey Damelio, Janel Damelio, Joshua Damelio, Jade Cherrington, Hex Damelio, Sierria Cavilee, Lydia Damelio; great grandchildren, Quinn, Selva, Aspen Damelio, Betty Cavilee, Tanner Damelio, Daythan, Lora, Barry, Kyndall Boos, Sasha Deeds, and Barrett Damelio; sisters, Mavis Godfrey of SC, Olean Williams of AL, Opal Riddle and Media Griggs both of Robbinsville, NC.

          Funeral Services will be held at 4:00 pm Saturday, May 8, 2021 at the Townson-Smith Chapel.  The Reverend Harold Beasley will officiate.  Burial will follow at Lower Sawyers Creek Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 3:00 till 4:00 pm at the Chapel prior to the service.
