Burlean Phillips Tipton, 87 of the Sweetgum Community of Robbinsville, NC went home to be with the Lord on Monday, September 11, 2023, at her residence.
She was a native of Graham County and was born in the Sweetgum community where she remained throughout her life. She was the daughter of the late Leslie and Minnie Phillips. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Hubert Tipton in 2000, her daughter, Marsha Tipton, sister, Burdell Crisp, nephew, Darrell Millsaps, and great nephew, Dwayne Millsaps.
Burlean was a CNA but continued her academic studies toward a college transfer degree.
She is survived by her daughters, Joy Stewart (Daniel), and Tammy Phillips both of Robbinsville, NC; sisters, Velma Bowers, Gertrude Millsaps, Jane Ledbetter; and brother, Harold Phillips (Lisa) all of Robbinsville, NC. She is also survived by her grandchildren, Aaron Stewart (Amanda), Kristyn Stevens (Brian), Jocelyn Satterfield (Edd), Travis Rogers (Shalain), Isaiah Phillips (Moriah); great grandchildren, Hayley Rogers (Will), Katelyn Nelson (James), Klancy Stevens, Brinklee Rogers, Zeb Stewart, Colton Satterfield, Gage Stewart, Jenson Phillips; and 2 great great grandchildren, Georgia Queen, and Mason Rogers all of Robbinsville, NC.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Wednesday, September 13, 2023, at Sweetgum Baptist Church. The Reverends Daniel Stewart and Brian Stevens will officiate. Burial will follow the service at the Old Mother Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 till 2:00 pm Wednesday at Sweetgum Baptist Church prior to the service.
