Byron Terrill (Terry) Ditmore, 72, resident of Baton Rouge, LA, formerly of Robbinsville, NC, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday, May 4, 2024, at his residence in Baton Rouge.
He was a native of Graham County, NC and the son of the late George W. Ditmore and Patsy Orr Martin. Along with his parents he was preceded in death by his brothers, Blaine (Eddie) Ditmore, Timothy Ditmore, and his stepfather, Harold Martin.
Terry was a proud Veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He loved his faith, family and friends with everything he had, and would help anyone in any way possible. He loved telling jokes and never met a stranger. He also loved to show off his pride and joy.
Terry is survived by his sons and daughters-in-law, Michael and Becca of Baton Rouge, LA, Tony and Tina of Spanish Fort, AL, David of Spanish Fort, AL; brother, Tommy Joe Martin (Tammy) of Robbinsville, NC; sisters, Patty McCollum (Ed) of Robbinsville, NC, Georgina Carringer of Lebanon, TN, and Cheryl Lynn McClure (Doyle) of Marble, NC. He has 8 grandchildren, Madeline, Mary Parker, Meagan, Michael, Levi, Cole, Cassidy and Hayden. He also had several nieces and nephews.
A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, May 25, 2024, at the Townson-Smith Chapel. Tommy Martin will officiate. Flag Presentation and Military Rites will be conducted by the US Marine Corps Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 1:00 till 2:00 pm at the Chapel prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Terry’s name to the Wounded Warrior Project or Breast Cancer research.
