Carl Brad Carringer, 95, of the Dry Creek Community in Stecoah went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 26, 2025.
He was a native of Graham County and the son of the late Arthur and Ollie Owenby Carringer.
In addition to his parents, Brad was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Edith Holder Carringer in 2015; son-in-law Rex Andrews; and his siblings Ed, Grady, Ross, Frank, Warren, Geter, Gracie, Maude and Belle.
He is survived by his son, Alvin Carringer of Robbinsville, NC; daughters Beth Andrews Marietta, GA and Carlene Ward (Mike) of Strawberry Plains, TN; granddaughters Heather DiNapoli (Brian) and Carla Pepiot (Drew).
Brad was present the day the strings were stretched to build Dry Creek Baptist Church on October 4, 1958. He remained dedicated to the church from that day forward, serving as the choir leader and as a deacon of the church. He was a humble man and a dedicated Christian.
Brad started work for the US Forest Service in 1963. During his time with the Forest Service, he traveled out west to fight forest fires in both Montana and California. He retired from the US Forest Service in 1985.
He loved music, beekeeping, operating his grist mill, photography and playing the guitar. Brad received his first guitar at the age of 12 as a gift from his brothers and soon taught himself to play. As an adult he taught himself to read sheet music.
Brad also had a great love for nature and all of God’s creation. He enjoyed spending time hunting, fishing and being in the woods.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at Dry Creek Baptist Church. The Reverends Coy Adams and Mark Stewart will officiate. Burial will follow in the Hazie Brown Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12 to 2:00 pm prior to the service.
Townson-Smith Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Carringer Family.
