Carol Stewart Crisp, age 79 of Robbinsville, NC went on to be with the Lord in the comfort of her own home surrounded by her loving family, Tuesday, August 11, 2020.
Carol was born on July 25, 1941 on West Buffalo to her parents, Ralph and Maggie Lee Hyde Stewart. She was one of 7 children. She married her late husband, Sam L. Crisp on October 29, 1955 and they shared 41 loving years together. In addition to her parents and her husband she is predeceased by her brother, Maurice Stewart and sister, Roma Stewart Hipp.
Carol lived the majority of her life in Graham County and served various jobs for the county including meter maid for the Robbinsville Police Department. She was the first female deputy sheriff of Graham County’s Sheriff Department, tax assessor, Director of the Board of Elections, and finished her career as the owner and operator of Phillips Restaurant.
Carol’s life purpose centered around her family whom she loved deeply and cared for endlessly. She was known throughout the county as a wonderful cook and found extreme pride and fulfillment in feeding our community.
She is survived by her children and their spouses, Pamelah Crisp May (David) of Hixson, TN, Sam Crisp Jr. (Kim) of Robbinsville, NC and Lorie Crisp Waldroup (Brad) of Robbinsville, NC; her grandchildren and their spouses, Ashley Silvers (Bijy), Jesse Crisp (Melissa), Zack Waldroup (Bayli); great grandchildren, Blake Silvers, Hayden Stewart, Mason Silvers, Maggie Lee Crisp, and Texi Jane Crisp. She is also survived by her brother and sisters, Jay Stewart of Robbinsville, NC, Nellie Jack Newsome of Robbinsville, NC, Claudia Coulter of Charlotte, NC, and Tammy Buchanan of Robbinsville, NC.
Family will receive friends on Thursday, August 13, 2020 from 5:00 till 7:00 pm at the Townson-Smith Chapel. Private Graveside Services will be held Friday at the Carver Cemetery. The Reverends Daniel Stewart and Jesse Crisp will officiate.
Due to the risk of exposure to COVID-19 it is requested that individuals attending the Visitation practice social distancing. In addition, NC Executive Order 147 requires anyone over age 11 to wear face coverings in public areas.
