Carol Jones Orr, age 80, of the Sweetwater community in Robbinsville, NC slipped away peacefully to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ early Sunday morning, August 17, 2025.
A native of Graham County, she was the daughter of the late Wayne and Louise Crisp Jones. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Ray Orr in May 2021, her sister Martha Menard and brothers, Justin Jones and Charles Rogers. Carol was a devoted servant of the Lord. She served in many capacities in her church – Sweetwater Baptist – and played the piano and sang with her family and church family for over 50 years. Carol earned an Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education from Southwestern Community College, and worked as a childcare director for Southwestern Child Development Commission for over 32 years. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, faithful friend and prayer warrior, but her most treasured title was being “Granna” to her six grandchildren and five beautiful great-granddaughters, whom she adored. Carol is survived by her children, Rhonda and Billy Anderson, Scott and Barbie Orr. Grandchildren, Cameron (Hannah) Anderson, Kinsley (Dustie) Fender, Carleigh (Logan) Odom, Landan (Maggie) Orr, Lakin Orr, and Brynlee Orr, and great-granddaughters, Wrylee Rayne Odom, Hallie Faith Fender, Bristol Rae Anderson, Adlee Shea Orr and Haisley Kate Fender. She is also survived by her sister and best friend, Connie Orr, sisters-in-law, Edith Jones, Wilma Millsaps, and brother-in-law Gerald Orr, along with several nieces and nephews and their families. Funeral Services will be 1:00 pm Wednesday, August 20, 2025, at Sweetwater Baptist Church. The Reverends G. D. Phillips and Patrick Breedlove will officiate. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon until 1:00 prior to the service. Committal services will follow in the Old Mother Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Cameron Anderson, Landan Orr, Dustie Fender, Logan Odom, Kevin Orr and Dawson Orr. Townson-Smith Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Orr Family.
