Cecil Franklin Rogers, 81 of the Green Creek Community of Robbinsville, NC passed away, Sunday, September 15, 2024, at his residence.
He was a native of Graham County and the son of the late Robert Howard and Clara Orr Rogers. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, David Rogers and Roy Rogers.
Cecil was a Veteran of the United States Marines having served his country during the Vietnam War. He was the recipient of a Purple Heart having been wounded at the Battle of Khe Sanh. He was a member of the Carringer-Webster VFW post #8635 and Eller-Rogers American Legion Post #192. He was also a member of the Robbinsville Masonic Lodge # 672, Andrews Lodge # 529 and a member of the Robbinsville Order of the Eastern Star #224.
He was also a butcher by trade and was Co-Lead of Cecil and June Rogers Gospel Group for 54 years and a Member of Long Creek Baptist Church.
He is survived by his wife, June Buchanan Rogers; his children and their spouses; Johnny and Angela Rogers of Robbinsville, NC, Randall and Kanya Rogers of the US Embassy in Chad, Jennifer and Rev. Noah Crowe of Robbinsville, NC, Holly and Kevin Brady of San Diego, CA; 9 grandchildren, Alex Crowe, Rachael Meier, Lydia Crowe, Randall Rogers Jr., Vanora Rogers, Justin Brady, Chase Brady, Autumn Brady, and Alicia Roberts; great grandchildren, Ellis Crowe, Theo Meier, and Caleb Meier. He is also survived by his sister, Anita Seay of Robbinsville, NC, brothers, Bobby Rogers of Beaver Dam, KY, Tommy Rogers of Center, AL, Jerry Rogers, Ronnie Rogers, and Mark Rogers all of Robbinsville, NC.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, September 20, 2024, at Mountain Creek Baptist Church. Reverends Tom Buchanan, Noah Crowe, and Roger Orr will officiate. Masonic Rites will be given by Robbinsville Masonic Lodge # 672. Burial will follow the Service at Mountain Creek Baptist Church Cemetery where Military Rites and Flag Presentation will be conducted by the US Marine Corp Honor Guard. The family will receive friends from 6:00 till 8:00 pm Thursday, September 19, 2024, at the Townson-Smith Chapel.
