Charlue Hamby Coffey Greene, 97, passed away on August 8, at Bryson Senior Living. She loved living in her home in Upper Tuskeegee before moving to Bryson City in March.
She is survived by her children, Judy Triplett, J.E. Coffey (wife Jean), Bonnie Dodson and Joey Coffey. Her daughter, Lynnie McCleod passed away in 2018. She was blessed with numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren as well as many nieces and nephews and her special friend, Stan Hyde.
Charlue was born October 30, 1926, in Wilkes County, NC and was preceded in death by her parents, Spencer and Vannie Hamby, her brothers Zeke, Otis and Claude Hamby, her sisters Carrie Hamby, Ava Lee Owens, Coleen Melling and Shelby Jean Chamberlain. The father of her children, Frank Coffey, died in 2003 and her son-in-law, David Dodson died in 2018.
A long-time resident of Graham County, Charlue enjoyed volunteering at Stecoah Valley Center’s Appalachian Evenings as the official greeter and ticket taker. Music was always an important part of her life along with meeting people and making friends.
