Clota Pilkington Millsaps, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and faithful servant of the Lord, entered her heavenly home on April 27, 2026, at the age of 76.
A native of Graham County and the daughter of the late Troy and Maude Wilson Pilkington. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, Billy Jack Millsaps, and her nephew, Brent McMahan.
Clota was a devoted follower of Christ. She lived out her faith daily with grace, humility, and unwavering trust in the Lord. She was an active member of Brooks Cove Baptist Church, where she taught Sunday School and Bible School for many years. Clota recently began attending Tuskeegee Baptist Church and enjoyed the worship and fellowship.
Clota was also a strong advocate for literacy. She impacted many young lives through teaching 1st grade. She retired from Robbinsville Elementary School in 2003, after 30 years of dedicated service. Clota delighted in “dirt Therapy”, often being found working in her garden and flower beds. Clota and her granddaughter Edy, aka “Sunshine Girl”, spent countless hours outside admiring the flowers, birds and butterflies. On rainy days, they baked, did crafts, or fought to be Monopoly Champion. She will be remembered for her steadfast faith and her deep love for her family. Though she is no longer with us, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life and take comfort in knowing she is now in the presence of her Savior.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Misty Millsaps, granddaughter, Edy Millsaps; sisters and brother-in-law, Cleo Bales, Clara and Lowell Crisp; and nephew, Bryan Burns.
Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, May 1, 2026, at the Townson-Smith Chapel. Reverend Harold Beasley will officiate. The family will receive friends from 10:00 till 11:00 am Friday at the Chapel prior to the service. Burial will follow the services at Welch Cove Cemetery.
All who knew and loved her are welcome to attend and celebrate her life. “Well done, good and faithful servant.” – Matthew 25:23.
Townson-Smith Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Millsaps family.
