Dale Crawford Medlin, 71, changed his address from West Fort Hill Road in Robbinsville to the Golden Streets of Heaven on Monday June 7, 2021 at the Charles George VA Hospital in Asheville.
He was born on July 26, 1949 to Clercy Elizabeth Hubbard Medlin and John Andy Medlin. He is preceded in death by his parents, his siblings Billie Kay Queen, Retha Mae Payne, Clark Medlin and Charles Medlin, and his granddaughter Barbie Nicole Orr.
Dale leaves behind his wife of 47 years, Dorothy Eller Medlin, children and their spouses, Todd and Sherrie Orr, Crystal and Kevin White, Stephanie and Joseph Jones; his grandchildren and their spouses, Blake and Amanda Orr, Joseph and Sarah Orr, Matthew Orr, Colby and Jill White, Kadin White, Carson White, Kaylee and Chandler Morgan, Hunter Jones and Abbie Jones and Ethan Sadler; his great grandchildren, Maddox, Ari and Carver Orr, Faith, Paisley and David Orr, Everly White and Kynlee Jones; his siblings, Doug and Charlene Medlin, George Medlin and Barbara Craig.
Dale served his country in the US Army during the Vietnam war. After returning to the States, he completed Associates Degrees in mechanics and welding through TriCounty Community College.
He married Dorothy in 1973. Together they enjoyed almost 48 years of marriage and raising a family. Dale loved the Lord, his family, his friends, and his country. He was a hard worker up until the time his body gave out. Dale was an outstanding mechanic working on everything from heavy machinery to dirt bikes. He has a passion for automobiles and at any time could own up to twelve vehicles. He was affectionately known as Daddy, Paw, Nose, Fuzz and ‘Medlin’. Even though the memories of Vietnam haunted him, he still found ways to enjoy life. He will forever be missed by his family but has left a legacy of love, a strong work ethic and service to others for them to follow.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 9, 2021 at Townson Smith Funeral Home starting at 7pm. Family will receive friends from 5pm to 7pm, prior to the funeral. Burial will be at New Hope Cemetery on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at 11am where Military Honors will be conducted by the National Guard Honor Guard, the Eller/Rogers American Legion Post 192 and Carringer/Webster VFW Post 8635. Reverends Derrick Palmer and Patrick O’Dell will officiate. Pallbearers will be grandsons.
Due to the risk of exposure to COVID 19, it is requested that those who have not been vaccinated wear facial coverings and practice social distancing.
