David "Sid" Haney Obituary

David “Sid” Haney, 73, of the Aquone Community passed away on Monday, May 31, 2021, at Mountain View Manor in Bryson City, NC.

A native of Macon County, he was the son of the late Willa Mae Haney. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, David Riley and Sarah Jane Wilson Haney.

David was a Veteran of the US Army, having served his country proudly during the Vietnam War. He was a 1966 graduate of Nantahala High School.

He is survived by his longtime companion of 56 years, Shirlon Huscusson Haney; his daughter and son in law, Kara and Aaron Long of Nantahala, NC; and his granddaughter, Charlotte “Charlie” Long.

Plans for a memorial will be announced later by Townson-Smith Funeral Home.
