Dee McMonigle Obituary

Dee McMonigle, born on November 5, 1941, bid farewell to this world on November 7, 2023, at the age of 82. He was born in Robbinsville, North Carolina, but spent his final days in Newnan, Georgia, surrounded by loved ones.

Dee had an impressive work history, dedicating his time and expertise to All-Phase Electric Supply. When he wasn't working, he enjoyed pursuing his passions, which included hunting, cooking, and, most importantly, spending quality time with his beloved family. His great-grandson, Roman, held a special place in his heart.

Dee's commitment to his community was admirable. For over 50 years, he was a proud member of the Riverdale Masonic Lodge #709. He took his membership in the Masons seriously and wore his affiliation with honor. Additionally, Dee was a devoted Shriner and wore his fez with pride.

During the Vietnam Conflict, Dee served his country as a Corporal in the United States Marines, specifically the 2nd Marine Aircraft Wing. His bravery and dedication earned him the National Defense Medal No. 2074, a testament to his service and sacrifice.

Dee is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Edgar, and Bessie Hill McMonigle, as well as his siblings: Bertha Jo Walker, Charles Edgar McMonigle, Jr., Betty Lou Deyton, Porter Max McMonigle, Rex Clayton McMonigle, Eugene McMonigle, Matty Goodwin, and Gary McMonigle. Though they may be gone, their memory lives on in our hearts.

Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Iris McMonigle, daughter Tammy (Mike) Hornsby, granddaughter Kayla (Cole) Forester, and his great-grandson Roman Forester. Many nieces, nephews, and extended family members will also hold dear their memories of this remarkable man.

A celebration of Dee's life will take place at the Chapel of Mowell Funeral Home in Peachtree City on Sunday, November 12, 2023, at 3:00 PM. Prior to the service, from 1:00 - 3:00 PM, the family will receive friends at the funeral home.

Funeral Services will also follow in Robbinsville, NC at 2:00 pm Friday, November 17, 2023, at Lone Oak Baptist Church.  The family will receive friends from 1:00 till 2:00 pm Friday, at the church prior to the service.  Burial will follow the service at Lone Oak Baptist Church Cemetery where Flag Presentation and Military Rites will be conducted by the NC National Guard Honor Guard.

Dee McMonigle will forever be remembered for his wit, dedication to family and country, and his unwavering commitment to his community. He has left an indelible mark on all those fortunate enough to have known him, and his memory will continue to inspire for generations to come.
