After proudly serving in the United States Army, he dedicated his professional life to education, teaching in the Utica Community Schools for an impressive 30 years. His commitment to shaping young minds left a lasting impact on countless students.
Donald had a deep appreciation for the outdoors and found great happiness in God’s natural beauty. Whether surrounded by loved ones or enjoying quiet moments outside, he embraced life with faith, warmth, and gratitude. All who knew him appreciated his gentle side and stories about his adventures. Above all, Donald adored his family and enjoyed sharing his children’s, grandchildren’s, and great grandchildren’s accomplishments.
On August 29, 1999, Donald was blessed to marry Louise Stewart Woodside, with whom he shared many cherished years. Together they shared a loving family that brought him immense joy. Donald was a devoted father to his children: daughters, Ginny Boemanns, Coletta (Frank) Potjunas, Trisha Orr, Gwenith (Keith) Benson, Margaret-Alice Nelson, and Pamela (Ben) Scheinfeld; and sons, Steve (Audrey) Orr, Bill (Mary) Woodside, Gregory Housholder, and Douglas (Trudy) Housholder.
