Dorothy started working at ‘Buck’s Diner’ later known as the ‘Black Knight Drive In’ when she was 14 years old. She worked numerous jobs throughout her life but her favorite career was helping people feel beautiful and confident as a cosmetologist. For over 40 years she washed, dried, colored, bleached, permed, straightened and cared for her clients hair. She made numerous friends who became family. Dorothy loved to spend time with her children but thoroughly enjoyed spoiling her grand and great grand children even more. They affectionately called her ‘Nana’ and will miss her terribly. Even though her family will miss her tremendously, they are so thankful for her testimony. Dorothy knew Jesus as her personal Lord and Savior. On Friday she closed her eyes on earth and opened them in heaven. She not only was in the arms of Jesus, but she was able to see Dale who she grieved for almost five years. The family looks forward to the day they will be reunited with Mom and Dad. They will forever be indebted to the staff of Graham Care for caring and loving on Dorothy until her final breath.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday February 11, 2026 from 4 - 7 pm at Lone Oak Baptist Church with the funeral following at 7 pm. Reverend Derrick Palmer will officiate. Burial will be on Thursday February 12 at 2 pm at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Pall bearers will be grandsons.
