Faye Barker Adams, 81 of Maggie Valley, NC passed away, Monday, January 15, 2024, at her residence.
She was a native of Graham County and the daughter of the late Clyde and Ila Hensley Barker. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Melvin Barker, sister, Bobbie Anna Mae Hyde, and son-in-law, Tommy Hooper.
She is survived by her son, Ben P. Adams, Jr. (Vickey); daughter, Vickie West (Jeff), grandchildren, Ben C. Adams (Mary), Matthew West, Hadley West; great grandchildren, Bradley Adams, Maggie Adams; sister, Verna Garland, and brother, James Barker. Through her marriage to Ben P. Adams, Sr. she was also a mother to Benny Nichols (Nancy), Ann Hooper, Cheryl Frazier (John) and grandmother to 10 grandchildren, and 16 great grandchildren.
She was a graduate of Mars Hill College, with a degree in Education. She taught at the Swain County school system at the high school level for over 20 years. She loved the art of teaching, and loved her students and fellow teachers.
A memorial service will be Saturday, January 27, 2024 at New Hope Baptist Church at 12:00 noon. Receiving and food in the fellowship hall immediately after.
