Faye E. Pries, 89 of the Yellow Creek Community of Robbinsville, NC passed away, Monday, August 7, 2023, at her residence.
She was a native of Graham County and the daughter of the late Needmore and Minnie Byrd Williams. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Pries, brothers, Ray Williams, Hank Williams, Larry Williams, and sister, Edith Rowe.
Faye was born in a log cabin in the Yellow Creek Community of Robbinsville, NC. She walked to a one room school in her early school years, cooked her first meal on a wood burning cookstove when she was five years old, and the mail was delivered once a week by the mail man riding a horse. She attended Graham County Schools and was a member of the first graduating class of Mountain View School. She later retired from the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, DC. During her lengthy career she held various positions, retiring in 1990 after serving as a Supervisor / Management Assistant.
She is survived by her stepson, James E. Pries Jr. and his wife, Susan of Emporium, PA; granddaughter, Amanda; brothers, Doug Williams, and Gary Williams both of Robbinsville, NC; and good friend, Dwaine Menzie. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews, great nieces, great nephews, great great nieces, and great great nephews.
Funeral Services will be held at 1:00 pm Saturday, August 12, 2023, at the Townson-Smith Chapel. The Reverend G.D. Phillips will officiate. Burial will follow the service at Lower Yellow Creek Cemetery next to her family in her beloved Smoky Mountains. The family will receive friends from 12:00 till 1:00 pm Saturday at the chapel prior to the service.
