Johnny Monroe Cody

Johnny M. Cody, 72 of the Stecoah Community of Robbinsville, NC passed away, Monday, October 13, 2025, at his residence surrounded by his loving family after an extended illness.

          He was a native of Graham County and the son of the late William Robert and Rachel Greene Cody.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Claude Cody, Richard Cody, Floyd Cody, Herman Cody; sisters, Frankie Barmes, Jessie Cable, and Nola Mauney.

          Johnny was a man of strong Faith who loved the Lord.  He also loved singing and playing the guitar and witnessed to every stranger he met about our gracious and Heavenly Father.

          He is survived by his wife, Mavis Self Cody; sons, John Stogsdall (Rebecca) of Hayesville, NC, Jacob Cody (Joy) of Bryson City, NC; daughters, Michelle Ledford (Terry) of Shelby, NC, Amy Shope (Daniel) of Forest City, NC; brothers, Lloyd Cody, Hardy Cody, Jack Cody all of Stecoah, NC, Eddy Cody of Bryson City, NC, Thurman Cody of Gastonia, NC; sisters, Olean Brown, Velvie Knight both of Stecoah, NC, Brenda Brown of Marietta, GA, and Wanda Moore of Rex, GA.  He is also survived by several grandchildren and great grandchildren, as well as several nieces and nephews.

          Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, October 18, 2025, at Stecoah Baptist Church.  Reverend Mike Teem will officiate. Burial will follow the service at the Greene Family Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 12:00 till 2:00 pm Saturday at the Church prior to the service.
