Michael Edward Orr

Michael Edward Orr, 72 of Sanford, NC formerly of Robbinsville, passed away peacefully, Sunday, June 14, 2026, at Graham Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center.  He leaves behind a legacy built on hard work, deep integrity, and an unyeilding dedication to his family and craft. 

          He was a native of Graham County and the son of Betty Jo Buchanan Orr and the late Edd Orr.  In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Tamla Crisp Orr and his brother, Phil Ray Orr.

         Michael was owner operator of Orr Contracting Company, Inc.  Through his business he specialized in large clearing and grubbing projects.  Happiest in the cab of a D8, Mike could make the heaviest machines look weightless as he maneuvered his way around the job.  Michael was a family man and truly adored the years spent with his wife Tamla.  They enjoyed going to Nascar races, the beach, and fishing.  Together they raised two wonderful children and were blessed with 3 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.

          In addition to his mother, he is survived by his children, Christy Silvers (Eugene), Weston Orr (Ashley); three cherished grandchildren, Ashlyn Rogers (James), Kaylee Orr (Dawson), Kerwin Orr; and four adored great grandchildren, Cayden and Emersyn Rogers and Oaklyn and Axtyn Orr; sister, Carlene Crisp (Eddie); brothers, Rev. Roger Orr (Lisa), and Farron Orr (April). 

          Funeral Services will be held at 12:00 pm Wednesday, June 17, 2026, at the Townson-Smith Chapel.  Reverends Roger Orr, and Tom Buchanan will officiate.  Burial will follow the service at Mountain Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.  The family will receive friends from 11:00 till 12:00 pm on Wednesday at the Chapel prior to the service.
