Morris Cook, 79, of the Sweetgum Community in Robbinsville, NC went home to be with the Lord on Monday, January 27, 2020 at Mission Hospital in Asheville, NC after a short illness.
A native of Graham County, he was the son of the late Austin and Winnie Ledbetter Cook.
Morris was a veteran of the US Army having served his country proudly during the Vietnam War. He loved working with wood; if he could imagine it, he could make it. He spent many hours carving and working with a scroll-saw.
He is survived by his loving wife of almost 52 years, Carol Crisp Cook; his daughter, Dana Cook (Joe Thomas), of Robbinsville, NC; his grandchildren, Kasi Cook, and Kody Cook (Mandy Messer); his great grandson, Alex Cook; his sister, Geraldine Trull of Pheonix, AR. He has several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm Thursday, January 30, 2020 at the Townson-Smith Funeral Home. Reverends Larry Icenhower and Daniel Stewart will officiate. The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 om at the Chapel, prior to the service. Committal services will be held at 11:00 am Friday, January 31, 2020 at Lone Oak Baptist Church Cemetery where Military Rites will be conducted by the NC National Guard Honor Guard.
