Paul Edward Brooks, 84 passed away, at his home, Friday, December 29, 2023.
Paul was born on January 4, 1939, in Andrews, NC to the late Ray and Edna Smith Brooks.
Paul served his country in the Army National Guard from 1962 through 1968 and received several awards for outstanding marksmanship. Following the Army, Paul attended AB Tech where he received a degree in Lab and Radiology. He retired from Union General Hospital in Blairsville, GA.
Paul married Joyce Pangle in 1971, and they enjoyed 52 years of marriage together. He also loved the Lord, his family, and friends. He had a lifelong passion for fishing which he enjoyed with many friends until his body was unable to do so. Even then he loved to share stories about the big bass he caught over the years. As much as he loved to fish, his favorite thing was being a papaw to his grandson, Ethan.
He will forever be missed by his family and friends but has left behind a strong legacy of love and friendship.
He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Pangle Brooks, daughter and son-in-law, Sherrie and Todd Orr of Robbinsville, NC and his beloved grandson, Ethan Sadler.
Graveside Services will be held at 1:00 pm Tuesday, January 2, 2024, at the Old Mother Cemetery. Eddie R. Brooms III will officiate.
Townson-Smith Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Brooks family. An online register is available at www.townson-smithfuneralhome.com.
