Paul Newton Riddle

Paul Newton Riddle, 94 a native of Graham County, went peacefully to be with our Lord, Sunday afternoon, January 23, 2022, at his residence.

He served in the US Army for 2 years stationed in Italy during World War II. He was formerly employed at AC Lawrence Leather Co. A member of Lake Junaluska Baptist Church, he enjoyed family gatherings, working in his yard, and doing woodwork which he shared with his family. Also, in his later years he enjoyed watching the redbirds at his feeders.

Paul is survived by his devoted wife of 74 years, Ellovee "Ella" Mauck Riddle; sons, Jerry Riddle (Marta) of Canton, Stan Riddle (Anne) of Clyde, and Ronnie Riddle (Thomasine) of Sylva; daughters, Linda Aldredge and Lena McMillan, both of Waynesville; brothers, Steve Riddle (Opal) of Robbinsville and Dee Riddle (June) of Georgia; 13 grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 4 great-great-grandchildren. Paul is preceded in death by his parents, John Riddle and Maude Wiggins Riddle, 8 brothers and 4 sisters as well as a granddaughter, Brandi Riddle and an infant daughter, Wanda Riddle.

Paul was a devoted family man, and he will be dearly missed.

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, January 27, in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Reverend Chris Willett officiating. Burial will follow at Garrett-Hillcrest Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service in the funeral home chapel. Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
