Retha Mae (Medlin) Payne

Retha Mae Medlin Payne of Robbinsville, NC, went home to be with the Lord on her 82nd birthday at Care Partners Solace Center in Asheville, NC.

A native of Graham County, she was the daughter of the late John Andy and Elizabeth Clercy Hubbard Medlin.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Randall J. Payne, her grandson, Casey Lee Crisp, her sister, Billie K. Queen, and her brother, Charles Medlin.

She is survived by her son, Ricky Payne of Hendersonville, NC; her daughter and son in law, Debra and Ray Crisp of Hendersonville, NC, her brothers and sisters in law, George Medlin of Robbinsville, NC, Doug and Charlene Medlin of Hendersonville, NC, Clark Medlin of Oregon, and Dale and Dorothy Medlin of Robbinsville, NC; her sister, Barbara Craig of Oregon; and her daughter in law, Pam Payne of Lake Lure, NC.  She is also survived by 2 grandchildren, John Randall Payne and Collin Ray Crisp, 2 great grandchildren, Holly Amber Crisp and Henry Wyatt Crisp, and her granddaughter in law, Margaret Alexander Crisp.

Funeral services will be held at 7:00 pm Friday, January 4, 2019 at the Townson-Smith Chapel.  Reverend G.D. Phillips will officiate.  The family will receive friends from 5:00 until 7:00 pm Friday at the Chapel, prior to the service.  Committal services will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, January 5, 2019 at Panther Creek Cemetery.  Sweetwater Baptist Church, of which she was a member, will serve the family lunch at the Church on Saturday after the committal services.
