Robert “Garry” Jenkins of Stecoah Community went home to be with the Lord, in the pre-dawn hours of Tuesday, September 17th, 2024, at his residence. He was the youngest son of Frazier and Hilda Sawyer Jenkins. He was 70 years old.
Garry was an experienced heavy equipment operator, working on many major projects all over the country. He was a friend to everyone and always willing and anxious to lend a hand. Having dyslexia did not hinder his ability to accomplish whatever he set out to do. He loved Nascar, a Dale Earnhart fan of course, WWE wrestling and most of all fishing with his friends, Taylor, Glenn, and Robbie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Rex Jenkins, Ronnie Jenkins, and sister Reba Woodard.
Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 43 years, Hester Cope Jenkins, daughter Louanne McMahan and son-in law Brent, son Daniel El Jenkins and girlfriend Joanna; grandson, Spencer McMahan; Nephews, Billy Woodard Jr. and wife Heidi, Steven Jenkins and fiancé Risa; niece, Erin Jenkins and girlfriend Misty; Brother-in-law Billy Woodard Sr. and wife Gail. Lighting up his life were his great nieces and nephews, Trevor Woodard and wife Alex, Leo Jenkins, Addie Woodard, Frazier Woodard, and Wylder Jenkins, Chantel, and Chris Skidmore. He held a special place in his heart for his aunt Willa Jean Cody. His many cousins were like brothers and sisters, giving him the opportunity for lots of adventures.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Saturday, September 21st, 2024, at Stecoah Baptist Church. The Reverend Mike Teem will officiate. Burial will follow at the Yellow Branch cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 noon till 2:00 pm at Stecoah Baptist Church. Pallbearers will be among family, friends, and neighbors.
Townson-Smith Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Jenkins Family.
