Roy Linville Grooms

          Roy L. Grooms, 71, of Robbinsville, NC, passed away Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at Harris Regional Hospital in Sylva, NC.

          A native of Haywood County, he was the son of the late Garfield and Dorothy Hanna Grooms.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his infant sister, Patricia Grooms, his sister, Betty Effinger, and his brother, Kenny Grooms.

          Roy lived a simple life and enjoyed the simple things.  He loved everybody and would often give to others, never asking for anything in return.

          He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Kathleen Rutherford Grooms; his daughter, Allison Grooms of Robbinsville, NC; his granddaughter, Emily Crisp; his brothers, Dewayne Grooms and Keith Grooms, both of Maggie Valley, NC; and his sisters, Margaret Moody of Maggie Valley, NC, and Thelma Grooms of Mullins, SC.

          The family will receive friends from 1:00 until 3:00 pm Sunday, February 25, 2018 at the Townson-Smith Chapel.  Graveside services will follow at Carver Cemetery.  The Reverend Erma Bond will officiate.
