Shirley Lorene Cooper, 66 of Robbinsville, NC went home to be with the Lord, Saturday, April 5, 2025.
She was a native of Graham County and the daughter of the late N.F. (Frank) and Frances Deason Cooper (who was Shirley's life long best friend). She was the granddaughter of the late Zebulon Vance (Zeb), and Virginia (Belle) Weaver Cooper and Art and Geneva Deason.
In Shirley's younger years she took care of her granddaughter Whitney. Shirley had a special bond with her, and also with Whitney's own children later on. She loved her grandchildren and great grandchildren with all her heart and often spoke of them with pride.
Shirley was a hard worker and could out work most any man and was never late to a job. In the past she had worked for TVA, Oak Ridge, and also worked for several local contractors running equipment or driving trucks on construction sites.
She was also an avid rock hunter. She liked nothing more than getting out in a big field or a creek and looking for big beautiful heart rocks.
She is survived by her daughter, Stephanie Cooper Lane, grandchildren, Whitney Lorene Ayers, Olivia Caroline Ayers, Logan Mark Teesateskie, Joseph Montana Lane, great grandchildren, Rayven Belle Blevins, Drelin John Jordan, Declan Robert Jordan, Daymon Taylor Owens, the baby, Daymian Barry Owens and her 4 dedicated sisters and brothers-in-law, Carolyn Stewart (Buster), Nancy Brooks (Richard), Virginia Stewart (Eddie), and Deborah Odom (Steve).
Despite the struggles in life Shirley faced, she loved her family very much and they loved her. She will be deeply missed but we can take comfort in knowing that she is no longer suffering and in pain. She has been released from her earthly burdens and is waiting in heaven to greet us when we make our heavenly trip.
Plans for a Memorial Service will be announced at a later date.
Townson-Smith Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Cooper Family.
