Sylvia Terry (Rives) Beckner

Sylvia Terry Beckner, 89, of Robbinsville, NC passed away, Friday, July 3, 2026, at her residence.

          She was a native of Harrison County, MS and the daughter of the late John Herchel Rives, M.D. and Margaret Varner Rives.  In addition, to her parents she was preceded in death by her brother, John Herchel Rives Jr.

          Terry retired from Mountain Youth Resources, as a head counselor.  She dedicated several years working with youth in several of the WNC Counties that Mtn. Youth Resources serve.

          She is survived by her husband, Jackson Beckner; Brother, David Carrol Rives (Carol Rives); Nephew, Nicholas Rives; sister, Margaret “Peggy” Rose Rives; stepchildren, Christina L. Norling, Charles E. Beckner; and sister-in-law, Dorothy B. Jones.
