Ted Orr

     Joe Ted Orr, 85 of Robbinsville, NC passed away, Wednesday, January 5, 2022, at Methodist Medical Center in Oak Ridge, TN.

     He was a native of Graham, born on East Buffalo to the late A. J. and Bessie Crisp Orr. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Bernice “Niece” Jones Orr, daughters, Diana and Kay, brothers, Hardy Orr, Pless Orr, Kenny Orr, and sister Hildred Collins.

     Ted was a cattle trader all his life. He enjoyed the outdoors, God’s beauty and appreciated the simple things in life. He enjoyed sharing a good story and delighted in making a trade or deal. He loved his cattle, his dogs, and his friends. He thoroughly enjoyed watching how God could change the color on his beloved mountains with each changing season, often saying “God sure can paint a purty picture.” Ted was born into a family in Graham County with deep roots, and he delighted in telling friends that he had 82 first cousins.

     He will be lovingly remembered and survived by several nephews, nieces, neighbors, and friends.

     Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 pm Sunday, January 9, 2022, at the Townson-Smith Chapel. The Reverends Mickey Stewart, Daniel Stewart, and Aud Brown will officiate. Burial will follow at Lone Oak Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 12:00 till 2:00 pm Sunday at the Chapel prior to the Service.
