Tommy Gladden Jr, age 74, entered his heavenly home of his Lord and Savior on November 16, 2025. Tommy was born on November 24, 1950, to Tommy and Margaret Brackett Gladden. Tommy was the fourth of eighteen children born to Tommy and Margaret.
Tommy was a hardworking man whose life was shaped by dedication, humility, and deep love for his community. In his early years, he worked as both a logger and a tobacco farmer, embracing the rugged, honest labor that helped define his character. He later found his calling as a roofer, a profession in which he proudly served for many years before retiring. Retirement, however, never slowed Tommy down. With the same steady hands and generous spirit, he continued to repair Monitor heaters for people of Graham County. He also could be found at Southern Gals restaurant, with his wife Stephanie, helping any way he could. Tommy also loved to share his testimony and love for his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Tommy is survived by his wife of 21 years, Stephanie Gladden; sons Caleb Gladden, Sam Gladden; daughter Jennifer Cody (Kevin); stepson Jesse Jenkins (Nikki); stepdaughter Courtney Brashear; and grandchildren Kelby Cody, Carley Jones, Jessica Watkins, Summer Childers, Alexis Gladden, Cadence Brashear, Layla and Jace Jenkins, his great grandchildren Silas and Isaac Watkins, Danielle Cochran, Gracelynn and Graden Childers; brothers Larry Gladden, Burlin Gladden, Joe Gladden, Bill Gladden, Thomas Gladden, Danny Gladden; sisters Flo Hayes, Brenda Thomas, Amanda Riddle, Tina Gladden, Lou Buchanan, Pat Laney.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, a son Clay Gladden; brothers Matthew “Sug” Gladden, Ricky “Cotton” Gladden, Tim Gladden, Gary Gladden; sister Cynthia Gladden Price.
He will be remembered not only for his tireless work ethic but also the kindness and warmth he showed to everyone he met.
