Vera Stratton Mullis, age 100, of Robbinsville NC, passed away peacefully Sunday July 7, 2024, at her home surrounded by her son Eddie and daughter-in-law, Paula by her side.
She was a native of Graham County and has resided there for most of her life. After 40 years as a hairdresser, she became an interior decorator in Atlanta, GA. Vera was the daughter of Jack Dillard and Bertha Odom Stratton; in addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jack Stratton; sisters, Edna Collins, Mary Carter, Lillian Green, and Bobby Stratton; the father of her sons, Delmas E. Rogers, her son Larry Rogers, and her husband, Richard Mullis.
Vera is survived by her son Eddie Rogers, sisters Ruby Curtiss, Louise Rodriquez, Christine Crenshaw and Joyace Norwood. Vera has 3 Grandchildren, Marie Brown (Bucky), Richard Rogers and Nichola Williams, 5 Great Grandchildren, Karee Beth Cole, Christian Rogers, Brendan Cole, Ashlyn Williams and Liam Williams; and one Great Great Grandchild was a special treat for her, and she beamed with love whenever she was around, Baylin Cole, daughter of Brendan and Hanna Cole.
Funeral services will be held at 4:00 pm Thursday, July 11, 2024, at the Townson-Smith Chapel. The service will be conducted by Rev. Larry Wilson and music performed by Scott Millsaps and family. Burial will follow the service at the Old Mother Cemetery, where pallbearers will be family members. The family will receive friends from 2:00 till 4:00 pm at the Townson-Smith Chapel prior to the service.
