Virginia (Ray) Patton

Virginia Ray Patton, 89, passed away Thursday, July 27, 2023, in Murphy, NC.

Virginia was born on September 12, 1933 in Quitman, Ga. to Ray and Mary Strickland.

She lived her in Georgia and Florida before moving to Robbinsville, NC. Virginia married Clive Patton on May 11, 1965 in Robbinsville. He preceded her in death in 2002.

Virginia was a homemaker. She raised 6 children. She will always be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother. She loved listening to country music, watching western movies, playing games on her phone and visiting her family and friends.

In February of 2023, she moved to Murphy Rehab and Nursing where she made many new friends.

She is survived by four children; Billy Ray Miller and wife Ann of Hobart, OK, Beverly Harrell of Lake Park, GA, Benny Eason and wife Merry of Vietnam, and Karen Gunter and husband Lance of Robbinsville, NC; 19 grandchildren; 28 great grandchildren; 4 great-great grandchildren and many close family and friends.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son Bobby; daughter Ann; as well as her siblings.

Funeral services will be held at 6:00 pm Wednesday, August 2, 2023 in the Townson-Smith Chapel. The Reverends Tom Buchanan and Roger Orr will officiate. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 pm Wednesday prior to the service. Committal services will be held at 10:00 am Thursday, August 3, at the Old Mother Cemetery.
